This marks our 20th year of Nimble Fitness, and to celebrate, we’re fundraising for an amazing nonprofit called God’s Love We Deliver. This organization delivers medically tailored, nutritious meals to individuals dealing with life-altering illnesses. They show up with love and nourishment—which is at the heart of healing.

Coupled with this fundraising campaign is the most challenging physical event I’ve ever attempted. It will challenge me mentally, physically, and spiritually in ways I have yet to experience.

I’m undertaking the Everesting Challenge, an extreme endurance activity where I will  repeatedly ascend a single mountain until I’ve cumulatively climbed at least 29,029 feet, which is the elevation of Mount Everest.

I’ll have 36 hours to complete this climb; in a single continuous effort without sleep.

To elevate my performance on the mountain the day of the event, many things will need to happen…

Before this event kicks off in June at Snowbasin in Utah, I will need to be stronger, more organized, lighter, and have a higher HRV. The mission is to train my body to handle the stress of such a challenging event and recover efficiently between climbs. There will be 13 hikes up the mountain totaling 29 miles, finishing at the same vertical elevation as reaching the summit of Mount Everest.

It’s tough preparing for an endurance event like this because you ultimately can’t fully prepare to the level of conditioning needed—that’s part of the point. There’s no way one’s mind doesn’t play a major role in whether someone finishes the event or the event finishes them!

What excites me most is that I’m already a better coach and trainer from embarking on this challenge, and it’s just begun. The discipline muscle is being flexed, strategy is being planned, and TEAM Everest is being built. This is a collaborative of elite coaches, trainers, bodyworkers, and doctors assisting me in my preparation for the event. You will get a front-row seat to the new mindsets, health habits, systems, strategies, and programming I’ll be adopting to have the best experience I possibly can.

My good friend Mark Haggarty and I originally kicked around the idea of Eversting about two years ago. I shared the concept with Mark—a physical challenge where you climb a mountain to the equivalent height of Mount Everest. Mark, being the man he is, responded with, “That sounds amazing, a real suffer-fest!” and I knew I might have a partner for this challenge. The power of the mind and will to endure will be at the heart of the event, and Mark has an abundance of both. You’ll get to meet the spirit of the man we call Mark while playing on the mountain on what feels like a not-so-distant day in early June.
We welcome you to join in on the fundraising and share this with your friends. If there’s someone who needs to be inspired to take better care of themselves or just might find this type of event interesting, please share our fundraising page with them. This is gonna be a wild ride, and the team at Nimble hopes you learn something new, have fun tagging along, and get inspired to move more to increase your healthspan.
Namaste,
Daniel
